Makerspace is Cancelled for Thursday and is being moved to Today. All students who normally go to Thursday Makerspace will now go today during your Homeroom time.

✔  COMMUNITY EDUCATION

VFW Student Competitions. There are several ways to show your talent and be recognized nationally for your artistic and/or vocal abilities. For more information, contact info@vfwauxiliary.org

  • National Art Contest. For students in grades K-8, enter artwork illustrating America and its beauty. (form attached)
  • National Singing Contest. For students of any age. Record a video of your vocal performance of the Star Spangled Banner, complete the form and send it in.

Safe Sitter. Get your kids ready to stay at home alone or take on a baby-sitting job this summer. 11-13 year old boys and girls can be sitter-certified through ProMedica staff in this one-day course. Courses are scheduled throughout the summer – check it out and register at bedford.ce.eleyo.com

Band Camp and Jumpstart Band Program. Join the fun and keep playing and learning as you work with the high school band instructors. Sessions are filled with music, movies, activities culminating in a concert and party at the end. Sign up online or see the band instructor for the form. (flyers below)

Driver’s Education. A full summer schedule of Segment 1 and Segment 2 classes will be available soon. Classes will be posted on Facebook a day before going live for registration at facebook.com/bedfordcommunityeducation

Summer Courses. There is something for everyone including kayaking and sailing for adults with more activities and classes for students being added weekly. Check it out and follow us on Facebook for up-to-the minute additions at facebook.com/bedfordcommunityeducation

Random Acts of Kindness has started in Room #25. Consider joining us if you have some creative and fun ideas on how to spread some kindness around our school and community! “RAK” Club will meet every other Wednesday until 3:30PM, so be sure you have a ride home. See flyers around the school for dates and email or see Ms. O’Neill in the counseling office if you have any questions.

The office will make a copy of your note – you will show it to your teacher and come to the office to meet your parent. They will not need to come inside to pick you up.

Remember to charge your Chromebook at night. If something is wrong with your Charger or Chromebook, please bring it to the Media Center and enter a ticket.

CHROMEBOOKS

Do not leave your chromebook unattended outside classrooms. You are responsible for the care of the chromebook that is issued to you and insurance will not cover negligence. Students that leave their chromebooks unattended can pick up their chromebook and their after school PENALTY HALL from Mr. Hurley.

EARLY DROP OFF

Students must remain in the cafe until 7AM if they are getting dropped off early.

HALL PASSES

All students must carry an approved pass from an administrator or teacher to be in the halls during class time.  This applies to student council members, yearbook students, students with early dismissal, and any student who finds it necessary to enter the halls during class time.

HALLWAYS/CLASSROOMS

Only water is allowed in classrooms. Pop, colored drinks, etc. are not allowed.

Students should not have these types of drinks in the halls either; please toss them if they can’t be closed again or close them and put them in your lockers.

LOCKERS

Please make sure your bookbags are all the way in your lockers before you close them. We have had numerous jams.

GIRLS TRACK

The girls track team ended a successful season last night at the SEC championship. The girls had many amazing performances to cap off the season. Hayden F. & Miranda F. placed 5th & 7th place in the high jump. Kennedy V., Mady W. and Tara T. leaped to 3rd, 4th & 7th place in the long jump. The 4×800 relay team of Iva R., Miranda F., Kaylee S. & Sophia J. earned 5th place. Kennedy V. & Rachel B. placed 6th & 7th in the 100 meter dash. The 4×200 relay team of Danielle W., Rachel B., Mady W. & Blair R. placed 4th. Iva R. raced to a 5th place finish in the 1600 meter run. Tayah C., Kennedy V., Olivia E.& Tara T. had a season best performance in the 4×100 relay and placed 2nd. Kaylee S. placed 8th in the 400 meter run, while Olivia E. raced to a 6th place finish in the 70 meter dash. The team wrapped up the meet with a 4th place finish in the 4×400 relay, which consisted of Kaylee S., Sophia J., Sabrine M. & Iva R. Congratulations on an amazing season, girls!!

BOYS TRACK

The boys Track team had some amazing performances Wednesday night at the Hornet Relays in Saline. 

The 4 x 800 team of Cam Varner, Logan Thomas, Brody McCloud and Maddi Duke broke their school record again. They crushed the record by over 14 seconds! 

The Hurdlers– Alex Mapes, Brody McCloud, AJ Varner, and Drew Bilik jumped right over their competition to win the 4 x 55 Hurdle Relay.

Pole VAulters– Matthew Rucki, Landon Sparks and Chase Diesing won the Pole Vault Relay. 

Cam Varner, Gabe Armstrong, and Logan Thomas won the High jump relay. 

Parker Hearns, Beckon Howe and Damion Hart won the Long Jump Relay. 

Individual Winners for the night were Maddi Duke in the 800 and Cam Varner met his goal of winning the Mile and breaking 5 minutes!

GIRLS TRACK

The girls had impressive performances at the Saline Hornet Relays last night. Kennedy V. and Mady W. took 1st and 3rd place in the long jump with personal bests. Helen B. and Tristen G. also PR’d in the shot put. Tayah C., Tara T., Kennedy V. and Iva R. finished 2nd in the Hornet Relay. The 4×100 relay team of Tayah C., Kennedy V., Olivia E. and Sophya C. finished 2nd. Kaylee S., Mady W., Blair R. and Aubriana E. finished 5th in the sprint medley relay. Sophia J., Charlotte B. and Ariel R. ran personal bests in the 1600. The team will wrap up the season on Monday at the SEC Championships.

EXITING THE BUILDING

Students – if you are leaving the building early for an appointment, please bring your note to the Main Office first thing in the morning. The office will make a copy of your note – you will show it to your teacher and come to the office to meet your parent. They will not need to come inside to pick you up.

CHROMEBOOK/CHARGERS

Remember to charge your Chromebook at night. If something is wrong with your Charger or Chromebook, please bring it to the Media Center and enter a ticket.

CHROMEBOOKS

Do not leave your chromebook unattended outside classrooms. You are responsible for the care of the chromebook that is issued to you and insurance will not cover negligence. Students that leave their chromebooks unattended can pick up their chromebook and their after school PENALTY HALL from Mr. Hurley.

EARLY DROP OFF

Students must remain in the cafe until 7AM if they are getting dropped off early.

HALL PASSES

All students must carry an approved pass from an administrator or teacher to be in the halls during class time.  This applies to student council members, yearbook students, students with early dismissal, and any student who finds it necessary to enter the halls during class time.

HALLWAYS/CLASSROOMS

Only water is allowed in classrooms. Pop, colored drinks, etc. are not allowed.

Students should not have these types of drinks in the halls either; please toss them if they can’t be closed again or close them and put them in your lockers.

LOCKERS

Please make sure your bookbags are all the way in your lockers before you close them. We have had numerous jams.

BOOK FAIR

BJHS PTO is having their final Book Fair of the 2022-2023 School Year! They are hoping to help students stock up on some great summer reading materials! There will be a staff preview May 15th! Below is an invite to the book fair preview as well as a family event invite. PTO is also giving BJHS staff members a Book Fair  coupon! Please print and fill out your coupon. Bring it with you when you shop at the Book Fair to receive $5.00 off a $20 purchase.

COMMUNITY EDUCATION

VFW Student Competitions. There are several ways to show your talent and be recognized nationally for your artistic and/or vocal abilities. For more information, contact info@vfwauxiliary.org

  • National Art Contest. For students in grades K-8, enter artwork illustrating America and its beauty. (form attached)
  • National Singing Contest. For students of any age. Record a video of your vocal performance of the Star Spangled Banner, complete the form and send it in.

Safe Sitter. Get your kids ready to stay at home alone or take on a baby-sitting job this summer. 11-13 year old boys and girls can be sitter-certified through ProMedica staff in this one-day course. Courses are scheduled throughout the summer – check it out and register at bedford.ce.eleyo.com

Band Camp and Jumpstart Band Program. Join the fun and keep playing and learning as you work with the high school band instructors. Sessions are filled with music, movies, activities culminating in a concert and party at the end. Sign up online or see the band instructor for the form. (flyers below)

Driver’s Education. A full summer schedule of Segment 1 and Segment 2 classes will be available soon. Classes will be posted on Facebook a day before going live for registration at facebook.com/bedfordcommunityeducation

Summer Courses. There is something for everyone including kayaking and sailing for adults with more activities and classes for students being added weekly. Check it out and follow us on Facebook for up-to-the minute additions at facebook.com/bedfordcommunityeducation

C.I.C. is for anyone interested in making new friend based on common interests. Come hangout & talk with friends. Tuesdays from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM in room #134.

RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS CLUB

Random Acts of Kindness has started in Room #25. Consider joining us if you have some creative and fun ideas on how to spread some kindness around our school and community! “RAK” Club will meet every other Wednesday until 3:30PM, so be sure you have a ride home. See flyers around the school for dates and email or see Ms. O’Neill in the counseling office if you have any questions.

GAME CLUB

Think about the most awesome thing that you have ever done! Now imagine yourself at Game Club, and I am sure that those two events were very similar. You can come by yourself and meet new people or you can bring a friend as well! It is a relaxed environment to make new friends and try out some new games and have fun with the classics too, there are so many options to choose from.

GIRLS TRACK

The girls wrapped up the regular track season last night with wins over both Monroe and Lincoln. The girls had season best times on the track and outstanding performances at the field events. Tara T. and Rachel B. placed first and third in the 70 meter dash. Madyson W. led the competition in the 100 meter dash with a PR. Audrey G. outpaced the competition in the 800 meter run, while Iva R. indra continued her winning ways in the 1600 and Alaina B. placed third. Charlotte B. placed second in the 3200 run. Our 4 x 100 meter relay team of Tayah C., Kennedy V., Sophya C. and Tara T. crushed the competition with a season best time. The relay team of Danielle W. , Rachel B., Alexia H. and Mady W. dominated in the 4 x 200 meter relay. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Aubriana E, Sophia J., Kaylee S. and Iva R. also placed first, as did the 4 x 800 meter relay team of Kennedy W., Sydney M., Alaina B. and Audrey G. Kennedy V., Tara T. and Mady W. also dominated the long jump by taking  the top three spots. The team will wrap up the season with the Hornet Relays tomorrow and the SEC championship on Monday.

BOYS TRACK

Congrats to the Boys Track team. They won last night against Lincoln and Monroe.

The team dominated all the individual running races. 

Victors were:

70 M- Drew B.

100- Damion H.

200- Breckon H.

400- Logan T. & Yousiff J. went 1-2

800- Maddi D.

1600- Cam V.

3200- Jack F. & Collin R. went 1-2

Alex M. won both Hurdles with multiple teammates finishing right behind him. 

And Last but not least… Parker H. won the long jump with a personal best of 16 feet 8 inches!

Way to go team!
