7th and 8th grade girls who are interested in learning more about careers in engineering have a fun and unique field trip opportunity! The University of Toledo will be hosting an Engineering Event for junior high girls in February. Students will participate in hands-on activities and learn about the different career pathways engineering has to offer.

Spots are limited and will be filled on a first-come-first serve basis to 8th graders, and then to 7th graders. Please see a post on your Schoology Math Course to fill out an interest form if you would like to attend.

We will be having locker cleanouts today and tomorrow. Upstairs lockers will be cleaned out today. Tomorrow will be downstairs. If you have a lot of personal items in your locker, begin taking them home today. Be sure to leave no food or drinks in your locker over Winter Break!

This year, for eighth graders only, there will be a section in the Bedford Junior High School yearbook where parents can wish their 8th grader luck on their new adventure to high school. If you would like to wish your son or daughter good luck as they move into high school, go to www.yearbookforever.com to create a Recognition ad to pay by credit or debit card. $15 through Feb. 26 ($0.45 service fee applies) The last day to purchase a Bon Voyage message is Feb. 26 or until space is filled. Along with the message, the students portrait ID photo will be used for photo.

This annual event for girls in grades K- 8 will take place in the high school gym on Saturday, February 10th, Tickets will be available online at bedford.ce.eleyo.com beginning Wednesday, January 3rd – February 2nd. High School and adult volunteers are always needed to assist with the dance, contact the Community Ed Office at 734-850-6019 if you are interested in helping.

The 2024 Winter Brochure is here. Look for some new and old programs and activities including basketball, volleyball, driver’s ed classes and art, fitness and tech programs for youth and adults. CHROMEBOOKS

  • We have a rise in Chromebook vandalism and Chromebook misuse. Please remember these are property of the school and are assigned to you, not given to you. If you cause damage of any sort to your Chromebook, it will result in a range of penalty hall to in school suspension with the possibility of restitution.
  • Do not leave your chromebook unattended outside classrooms. You are responsible for the care of the chromebook that is issued to you and insurance will not cover negligence. Students that leave their chromebooks unattended can pick up their chromebook and their after school PENALTY HALL from Mr. Hurley.
  • Students, please make sure you are entering a Helpdesk Ticket before you come to the Media Center with a Chromebook issue. The Helpdesk Ticket App is located within Clever.
  • Remember to charge your Chromebook at night. If something is wrong with your Charger or Chromebook, please bring it to the Media Center and enter a ticket.

Parents need to drop you off in the mornings in the back of the building only. No students are allowed to be dropped off at the front of the school for any reason. 

EARLY DROP OFF

Students must remain in the cafe until 7AM if they are getting dropped off early.

EXITING THE BUILDING

Students – if you are leaving the building early for an appointment, please bring your note to the Main Office first thing in the morning. The office will make a copy of your note – you will show it to your teacher and come to the office to meet your parent. They will not need to come inside to pick you up.

HALL PASSES

All students must carry an approved pass from an administrator or teacher to be in the halls during class time.  This applies to student council members, yearbook students, students with early dismissal, and any student who finds it necessary to enter the halls during class time.

HALLWAYS/CLASSROOMS

Only water is allowed in classrooms. Pop, colored drinks, etc. are not allowed.

Students should not have these types of drinks in the halls either; please toss them if they can’t be closed again or close them and put them in your lockers.

LOCKERS

Please make sure your bookbags are all the way in your lockers before you close them. We have had numerous jams.

Students that have evening practice or games are not allowed to stay at school until your events starts. Students can return to their sporting events with a parent or guardian at the called for time.

Bedford 7th grade basketball team finished the season in style by beating Saline 25-19. Youssif J. and Matthew B. led the way on offense. Toby D. and Jackson Z. led the defense. Michael O. and Lucas T. gave us a spark off the bench. 7th grade finished the season 12-2.

Bedford 8th grade stung the Hornets of Saline 15-10 to end the season.  Jaxson L. led the scoring.  Colten H. , Gabe R. and Nathanael B. also played well.  8th grade finished the season with an 11-3 record.

Here’s what you need to know:

The National Junior Honor Society at BJHS is having a coat drive running until December 15th.  If you have any coats that are slightly loved, but no longer fit, or you no longer wear them,  please consider donating them to our Coat Drive. We will take coats of all sizes. The coats can be brought to room #223.  They can be placed in the plastic bin on the table outside of the room.  Thank you for supporting our coat drive.

Bedford 7th grade improved to 11-2 by defeating Adrian 29-18. Cutter Burmeister getting his first start of the season scored 12 followed by Jack R.’s 10. Youssif J. and Drew A. led the defense. Come out and fill the stands for our last game Monday as we play Saline.

Bedford 8th grade controlled the game against Adrian winning 25-21.  Jaxson L. and Chase A. led the scoring.  Jordan T. and Dylann S. also played well.

High School and adult volunteers are always needed to assist with the dance, contact the Community Ed Office at 734-850-6019 if you are interested in helping.

The 2024 Winter Brochure is coming in Mid-December. Look for some new and old programs and activities including basketball, volleyball, driver’s ed classes and art, fitness and tech programs for youth and adults. Some of the Spring leagues are included in this brochure as well.

  • We have a rise in Chromebook vandalism and Chromebook misuse. Please remember these are property of the school and are assigned to you, not given to you. If you cause damage of any sort to your Chromebook, it will result in a range of penalty hall to in school suspension with the possibility of restitution.
  • Do not leave your chromebook unattended outside classrooms. You are responsible for the care of the chromebook that is issued to you and insurance will not cover negligence. Students that leave their chromebooks unattended can pick up their chromebook and their after school PENALTY HALL from Mr. Hurley.
  • Students, please make sure you are entering a Helpdesk Ticket before you come to the Media Center with a Chromebook issue. The Helpdesk Ticket App is located within Clever.
  • Remember to charge your Chromebook at night. If something is wrong with your Charger or Chromebook, please bring it to the Media Center and enter a ticket.

Parents need to drop you off in the mornings in the back of the building only. No students are allowed to be dropped off at the front of the school for any reason. 

EARLY DROP OFF

Students must remain in the cafe until 7AM if they are getting dropped off early.

EXITING THE BUILDING

Students – if you are leaving the building early for an appointment, please bring your note to the Main Office first thing in the morning. The office will make a copy of your note – you will show it to your teacher and come to the office to meet your parent. They will not need to come inside to pick you up.

HALL PASSES

All students must carry an approved pass from an administrator or teacher to be in the halls during class time.  This applies to student council members, yearbook students, students with early dismissal, and any student who finds it necessary to enter the halls during class time.

HALLWAYS/CLASSROOMS

Only water is allowed in classrooms. Pop, colored drinks, etc. are not allowed.

Students should not have these types of drinks in the halls either; please toss them if they can’t be closed again or close them and put them in your lockers.

LOCKERS

Please make sure your bookbags are all the way in your lockers before you close them. We have had numerous jams.

Students that have evening practice or games are not allowed to stay at school until your events starts. Students can return to their sporting events with a parent or guardian at the called for time.

Bedford 8th grade defeated Ypsilanti Lincoln 35-16 with a balanced scoring attack and pressure defense.  12 different players scored led by Chase A. and Drew B.  Luke W. and Anthony L. also played well.

Bedford 7th grade basketball team went 1-1 Saturday. They lost a tough game 25-19 to Saline Blue. Max C. and Julian P. played well.  In the second game Bedford defeated Saline Gold 32-17. Youssif J. celebrated his birthday with 16 points. Matthew B. and Drew A. played well also.

Bedford 8th grade split a doubleheader on Saturday against Saline losing to Blue 21-17 and winning against Gold 14-13.  Henry A. and Chase A. led the way in the first game.  Jaxson L. and Colten H. played well in the second game.

Dear BJHS Families: Get ready! This year’s Book Fair is going to be epic! We’ve turned up the volume with more fun, more choices and more excitement, so kids will arrive curious and leave bolder, prouder, and stronger than ever before. 

Here’s what you need to know about our upcoming fair: 

📚Every dollar you spend will benefit our school directly 

📚You can sign up for Book Fair eWallet, a convenient digital payment account, so your child can shop the Fair cash-free. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute to the eWallet to help build your home library.

The National Junior Honor Society at BJHS is having a coat drive running until December 15th.  If you have any coats that are slightly loved, but no longer fit, or you no longer wear them,  please consider donating them to our Coat Drive. We will take coats of all sizes. The coats can be brought to room #223.  They can be placed in the plastic bin on the table outside of the room.  Thank you for supporting our coat drive. 

Our Food Drive is going on. Turn your non perishable items (no glass) into your 1st hour teacher. The class with the most items donated gets a breakfast from Mr. Lopinski. The Food Drive will run through TODAY. LET THE COMPETITION BEGIN!!

Wish an 8th Grader Bon Voyage
This year, for eighth graders only, there will be a section in the Bedford Junior High School yearbook where parents can wish their 8th grader luck on their new adventure to high school. If you would like to wish your son or daughter good luck as they move into high school, go to www.yearbookforever.com to create a Recognition ad to pay by credit or debit card. $15 through Feb. 26 ($0.45 service fee applies) The last day to purchase a Bon Voyage message is Feb. 26 or until space is filled. Along with the message, the students portrait ID photo will be used for photo.

Random Acts of Kindness Club will meet Wednesday after school until 3:30 PM in Room #4. No worries if you missed the first meeting, anyone is invited to attend any meeting!

✔ SPORTS  

Last night the Swim and Dive team took on Pinckney and were Victorious as a team. 98-71

Highlights of the meet – Sydney K. won the 100 Free and happily qualified for States in the 50 Free.  Parker W. – Once again  was a double winner in the 100 IM and 100 Breaststroke.  Samantha S. qualified for a 3rd State event as she won the 100 Backstroke and had a 2nd place finish in the 50 Fly. 

6th grader, Ella S. finished 2nd in both the 100 IM and 100 Breaststroke and was So… close to her state qualifying times.  Camille H. finished a strong second with personal best in the 100 Backstroke. 

Katalia W. , Ryan N., Madison R. and Annabelle J. had personal bests in their races as well. 

The Next meet is Monday against Ypsilanti.  Great job Team!

Bedford 7th grade basketball team won a hard fought battle against Monroe 25-21. Lucas T. sparked the Mules in the second half to come from behind. Tyler T. and Ty W. also played well.

Bedford 8th grade came out in the second half playing tough physical aggressive defense taking down the Trojans of Monroe 26-11.  Henry A. and Luke W. led the balanced scoring.  Nathanael B. and Kyle S. also played well.

This annual event for girls in grades K- 8 will take place in the high school gym on Saturday, February 10th, Tickets will be available online at bedford.ce.eleyo.com beginning Wednesday, January 3rd – February 2nd. High School and adult volunteers are always needed to assist with the dance, contact the Community Ed Office at 734-850-6019 if you are interested in helping.

The 2024 Winter Brochure is coming in Mid-December. Look for some new and old programs and activities including basketball, volleyball, driver’s ed classes and art, fitness and tech programs for youth and adults. Some of the Spring leagues are included in this brochure as well.

In mid December, you can view the brochure online at https://www.bedford.k12.mi.us/community_education and online registration is at bedford.ce.eleyo.com. Families can also stop in at our offices, Monday – Friday, 8 am – 4:00 pm, at 1135 Smith Road (Smith Road School). Questions? Give us a call at 734-850-6036.

CHROMEBOOKS

  • We have a rise in Chromebook vandalism and Chromebook misuse. Please remember these are property of the school and are assigned to you, not given to you. If you cause damage of any sort to your Chromebook, it will result in a range of penalty hall to in school suspension with the possibility of restitution.
  • Do not leave your chromebook unattended outside classrooms. You are responsible for the care of the chromebook that is issued to you and insurance will not cover negligence. Students that leave their chromebooks unattended can pick up their chromebook and their after school PENALTY HALL from Mr. Hurley.
  • Students, please make sure you are entering a Helpdesk Ticket before you come to the Media Center with a Chromebook issue. The Helpdesk Ticket App is located within Clever.
  • Remember to charge your Chromebook at night. If something is wrong with your Charger or Chromebook, please bring it to the Media Center and enter a ticket.

Parents need to drop you off in the mornings in the back of the building only. No students are allowed to be dropped off at the front of the school for any reason. 

EARLY DROP OFF

Students must remain in the cafe until 7AM if they are getting dropped off early.

EXITING THE BUILDING

Students – if you are leaving the building early for an appointment, please bring your note to the Main Office first thing in the morning. The office will make a copy of your note – you will show it to your teacher and come to the office to meet your parent. They will not need to come inside to pick you up.

HALL PASSES

All students must carry an approved pass from an administrator or teacher to be in the halls during class time.  This applies to student council members, yearbook students, students with early dismissal, and any student who finds it necessary to enter the halls during class time.

HALLWAYS/CLASSROOMS

Only water is allowed in classrooms. Pop, colored drinks, etc. are not allowed.

Students should not have these types of drinks in the halls either; please toss them if they can’t be closed again or close them and put them in your lockers.

LOCKERS

Please make sure your bookbags are all the way in your lockers before you close them. We have had numerous jams.

Students that have evening practice or games are not allowed to stay at school until your events starts. Students can return to their sporting events with a parent or guardian at the called for time.

Bedford Lacrosse Association is excited to announce the formation of a brand new U12 (5th and 6th grade boys Lacrosse team). Join us for an informational meeting, Wednesday 12/6 5:30-6:30pm in the Bedford Junior High Cafeteria. Meet the coaches and learn about the sport of Lacrosse!

Spring Lacrosse runs March 11th through May 18th with tournament games on the following dates: April 13 or 14, April 21st, April 27th, May 5th, May 19th, possibly May 12th
